In-House Die Maintenance & Sharpening
Dedicated tool room support directly on the shop floor. Immediate punch regrinding, clearance adjustments, and spare insert replacement without outsourcing delays.
DFM & Tool Life
Optimized strip layouts for lower component piece costs
Tool design is not just about making a die work—it is about minimizing scrap, extending regrind intervals, and optimizing press tonnage.
1. Strip Pitch & Scrap Reduction
Through careful nesting and pilot hole positioning, our engineers minimize the scrap skeleton percentage, directly saving raw material cost on high-volume runs.
2. Clearance & Burr Control
Punch-to-die clearances are calibrated specifically to material grade and sheet thickness (5%–12% per side) to ensure clean burnish zones and minimal rollover burrs.
3. Rapid Die Maintenance
Every progressive die has a scheduled regrind cycle based on stroke count. Our on-site surface grinders re-sharpen cutting edges quickly to maintain continuous burr-free tolerances.
FAQ
Progressive die manufacturing FAQ
Why is an in-house tool room critical for sheet metal stamping?
An in-house tool room eliminates dependence on third-party toolmakers. We design, fabricate, prove, and maintain dies under one roof. When a punch requires sharpening or clearance adjustment, our toolmakers execute it in hours rather than days, ensuring consistent batch quality and zero production downtime.
What types of CAD files do you accept for tooling design?
We accept 2D technical drawings in PDF and DWG formats with critical-to-quality (CTQ) dimensional callouts, as well as 3D CAD solid models in STEP (.step / .stp) and IGES (.iges / .igs) formats.
How do you calculate strip layout and scrap efficiency for progressive dies?
Our tooling engineers evaluate component geometry to optimize grain direction, pitch length, and carrier strip width. We design layouts to maximize strip utilization and reduce raw material scrap percentage—directly lowering unit part cost for our customers.
How is a progressive die proved and approved before serial production?
Every new tool is mounted onto our production power presses (1T–100T) for trial stamping. First-off samples undergo 100% dimensional inspection in our Mitutoyo inspection lab. Serial production begins only after the customer reviews and signs off on the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR).
Do you build press tools for external manufacturers in Ambattur and Chennai?
Our primary focus is turnkey tooling-and-stamping—designing and building progressive dies to manufacture components in our Chennai press shop. We also service and maintain existing client-owned dies transferred to our facility.
